Merry Dog Listener - MapleBorders - 2020 Border Collie Puppies
We welcomed 4 pups during 2018, and they are all coming along very well.
We will be planning our next Border Collie litter in the late Summer of early 2020 with our beautiful Red girl Miss Floss, (pedigree name ‘BeathBorders Dame Flora') and Mr Rory, our handsome Blue Merle boy, (pedigree name ‘BeathBorders Silver Fox'). We’ll also be hoping to introduce pups from Miss Gem, (pedigree name 'MapleBorders Golden Gem'), who is the Red daughter of Floss & Rory, and exemplifies our goals of ‘clever, calm and cuddly’.
Updates on pregnancy and whelping (fingers crossed, of course!) will be published on our public MapleBorders Facebook page.
We are thrilled with how Flossie’s pups from the 2017 Litter have turned out – they have matured into happy, healthy and beautiful young dogs, bringing lots of fun and joy to their families. Check out their photos in our Photo Gallery.
We have a dedicated Facebook Page for the puppies. It’s called MapleBorders – our registered breeding prefix (kennel name). Check it out for frequent updates!

ABOUT MAPLEBORDER’S PUPPIES
If you are looking for a beautiful Border Collie, we specialise in ‘calm, cuddly and clever’ pups - raised with Dog Listening principles, natural feeding and with 100% focus on health & temperament - very suitable for family companions. Some of our pups have also gone on to participate in Obedience, Agility, Sheep Herding and even hobby farm work – opportunities all available to new families to develop the all round talents and instincts inherent in the Border Collie breed.
All puppies will have their Pedigrees registered with the peak Kennel Club in Australia (the Australian National Kennel Club) via Dogs Tasmania, on the Limited Register, which means they are not available for future breeding or showing, but are eligible for all Dog Sports. New puppy families will be asked to provide evidence their puppy has been de-sexed. New puppy families will also need to register their pups, once they reach 6 months of age (in Tasmania – laws may vary interstate) with their local Council. Merry has a Dog Kennel Licence with the Kingborough Council.
Rory and Floss have had the full range of Health Tests available for Border Collies – a BAER hearing test, an Eye Test, a Full DNA Profile, and been tested against known Border Collie inheritable diseases (CL – Ceroid Lipofuscinosis, TNS – Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome and CEA Collie Eye Anomaly) plus Hip and Elbow Xrays to help prevent Hip Dysplasia and Elbow problems. My Vet, Dr David Boersma, is available to confirm all these tests, their results, and explain any scientific aspects.
If you are interested in considering one of Merry’s puppies, please phone Merry on 0417 832 551 for a chat, or email your Contact info via this website's Contact form. It is highly recommended you read all the information provided here first.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT GETTING A PUPPY
1. Please read the attached PDF Document from the US Humane Society and their Advice on How to Find a Good Breeder – PDF File.
2. I like to discuss, in detail, the future homes and families my pups go to. In order to do this I ask all families interested in our pups, to complete an Application Form. Please see the attached document, on the information I ask new owners to provide me - MAPLEBORDERS PUPPY APPLICATION FORM – WORD version.
3. Before committing to a puppy, I also ask new owners to come and visit us, if they are based in Tasmania. Each year we have also had prospective new owners come and visit us from interstate before committing to one of our puppies, and we very much recommend this approach.
4. For more detailed information on my Border Collie breeding background, please see the attached information - My Breeding Background - PDF File.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR PUPPIES
Cost for 2019 will be $1800 per puppy (same for each colour/gender and including Pedigree Registration). 50% deposit is payable when committing to a puppy. (Non-refundable if you change your mind.) Remainder is due before pick-up day.
We do always have a Waiting List. Once puppies are born, deposits are accepted and this determines the order of preference, for matching with your circumstances and colour/gender preferences.
What does the puppy’s cost cover?
1. Your puppy will already be vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed, and have had 2 full Vet checks and health assessments. Puppy will require another booster vaccination at approximately 12 weeks of age.
2. Your pure bred Border Collie will come with a Pedigree and will be registered with the peak Kennel Club in Australia (the ANKC) via Dogs Tasmania, on the Limited Register, which means they are not available for breeding or showing.
3. Cost also includes a comprehensive Dog Listener consultation with Merry, when puppy has settled into their new home. This will assist in getting the family off on the right path to good dog training, and avoiding unwanted behaviour.
4. You will also receive a Puppy Pack including – 6 weeks free Puppy Insurance (to tide you over until you decide whether to insure your pup); notes for settling-in your new arrival; information on Dog Listening; information on Natural Feeding principles and Crate Training; a discount voucher towards de-sexing your dog (Hobart only); a puppy blanket, a collar and a recommended toy.
5. Puppies will all have had basic crate training and some very basic lead training. My crate training of puppies before 8 weeks of age dramatically increases the ease with which they settle in with their new families, and if they need to travel by air interstate. New puppy families must bring a Dog Crate to pick up their puppy. I can provide advice and assistance on obtaining a suitable crate.
6. Puppies are well socialised with children, our cat and a wide range of adults.
When will puppies be available?
1. Puppies can go to their new homes from 8 weeks of age (not before – they are still learning from their parents and siblings).
2. Arrangements can be made - on a case-by-case basis - for puppies to stay with us and our dogs until they are slightly older (but please be aware that full boarding charges will apply).
3. It is usual for puppies to be picked up, but delivery arrangements, including interstate, can be made (at new owner’s expense). I do not export puppies overseas. Please phone to discuss if interstate delivery is possible.
What will puppy look like when he/she grows up?
1. Please see the Photo Gallery of our 2017 puppies, plus previous puppies, also sired by Rory (BeathBorders Silver Fox) but with a different mother.
2. Please see the attached PDF document about potential puppy features - Extra Information About Puppies - PDF File.
