Qualification
Accreditation with Jan Fennell - the UK Dog Listener
After
completing my initial training in the UK in 2006, I completed
in 2007, 20 detailed Dog Listening client case studies to Jan Fennell's
satisfaction and gained the status as a Recommended Associate
of Jan Fennell. Thanks to all my clients who assisted with
this process by contributing detailed feedback and
evaluations. Jan's quality control is part of her commitment
to best practice and service to clients. I now work
independently from Jan's group.
UK Dog Listening Tour
- July & August 2007
I travelled to England again in 2007 to spend time with Jan Fennell and
her son, Tony Knight, while they were conducting advanced Dog Listening
courses. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more and it's always a
thrill to see Jan with her own large pack of dogs. I met many UK and
European Dog Listeners whilst travelling and undoubtedly benefited from
shared experience.
Whilst visiting Sweden I had the opportunity for a radio interview and
a press interview, to spread the word on the benefits of Dog Listening.
Jan
Fennell's 2007 Tour of Australia and New Zealand
Jan toured New Zealand and Australia in October and November 2007,
giving numerous public talks and presenting one or more training
programs in 5 cities. All venues and programs were sold out, and the
response from the public and media was tremendous. Jan gave many radio
and press interviews and appeared on Australian and New Zealand
television. I had the opportunity to meet up with Jan, and other
Australian and New Zealand Dog Listeners (see Links),
in Auckland and Perth.
Tony
Knight - Tour of Australia and New Zealand - 2008
Jan's son Tony is the principal instructor for Jan's Advanced Canine
Communication Courses and is now confirmed to come to Australia and New
Zealand to present courses and give public talks in May 2008. I hosted
Tony on a visit to Tasmania in May 2008, when he gave a talk
on Dog Listening to a packed audience in the Hobart Town Hall. This was
a wonderful opportunity to hear from a very experienced Dog Listener
and Trainer. Tony returned to Hobart in Late 2008 and conducted a
course in the Foundation Principles of Dog Listening.
Other highlights
As well as working with individual clients, I enjoyed
presenting talks on Dog Listening to members of the German Shepherd Dog
Club (http://www.gsdct.com/)
and volunteers at the Hobart Dogs' Home - http://www.dogshomesoftas.com.au/.
From 2007 to 2009, I was the President of the Kingborough Dog
Walkers' Association (KDWA). This is a local lobby group working hard
to promote the establishment and maintenance of facilities for dog
walkers in the local council area, and in conjunction with other
similar groups - across Hobart, and Tasmania. Promotion of responsible
pet ownership and lobbying State government on key pet issues is also
part of our Association's goals. See http://www.dogwalkinghobart.info
