Why Do
Dogs Have Wet Noses? By Stanley Coren (2006) Kids
Can Press
Great book for reading to small kids who love dogs
and for kids of reading age 9-12. Lots of true and
quirky facts about dogs; the way they think and why
they behave the way they do with lots of great
photos. |

Animals
in Translation by Temple Grandin and Catherine
Johnson(2005) Bloomsbury Publishing
Temple
is an animal scientist and also autistic. She
believes her autism and heightened sensory
perception skills give her an extraordinary insight
into understanding how animals see, think and feel.
I found this an absolutely fascinating read. |

Bruce Fogle (2006 edition) Dorling Kindersley
Published in the classic 'DK' style with lots of
wonderful colour pictures accompanying short bursts
of text, in short easy-to-comprehend chapters, this
is a great book for getting kids (and adults too!)
interested in understanding dog behaviour. |

The
Stockmen by Rachel Treasure (2005) Penguin books
I really enjoyed this romantic novel that also
outlines a story depicting the history of the
development of the Australian Kelpie working dog.
Rachael Treasure lives in rural Tasmania and her
stories describe modern life in rural Australia.

A Dog's
Life - a year in the life of a dog family by Jane Burton and Michael Allaby (1986) Ebury Press
I really
enjoyed the 120 photographs in this meticulously
recorded year in the life of 2 dogs and their litter
of pups. A great insight into canine behaviour and
mating, whelping and weaning! Probably hard to find
now, but available second hand through Amazon books. |

DOG
Almighty - by John Donegan (1986) Souvenir Press
My all time favourite book of dog cartoons poking
hilarious fun at how we worship our dogs. |
